Mia, thank you for writing and sharing this thoughtful, humorous, honest post! Also, I don't think I knew you also worked at TellMe! It's highly possible we overlapped and never knew it. I'm a huge fan of LinkedIn for many reasons and aspects of its platform. Have you tried the Creative mode? It might be a good fit for you: https://www.linkedin.com/help/linkedin/answer/a522537/creator-mode?lang=en

All said, keep preaching and letting people know that life happens, change happens, be malleable, be adaptable, appreciate the now -- and the past -- and the possibilities of the future.

Lisa - Hi! I had no idea you worked at TellMe - such a bizarre and fascinating place, right? And thanks so much for the kind words and for the recommendation of Creator mode on LinkedIn. That is exactly what I'm going to do - super helpful!

Right after publishing this I remembered a FIFTH (and the actual first) time I was fired. I was a senior in college, and I had a work study job at the university library. I was not well suited to this job and had been censured many times for talking too much - both at the welcome desk and at the check out desk. But the final straw was when I was meant to be checking that the books in a specific section of the stacks were in order. I thought this was a ridiculous task, so I wrote down the call number of where I said I had started checking, and the call number of where I thought I would reasonably finish after an hour-long shift. And then I went to study for the GRE's in my friend's thesis carrel. Little did I know my boss has purposely put a series of books out of order to make sure we were doing the job. BUSTED. And... FIRED. 🤦🏻‍♀️
